ABUJA, Nigeria — The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has dismissed reports that its 2027 campaign council list has been withdrawn, saying the structure already announced by the party remains valid and operational.

The council's spokesperson, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, disclosed this on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television's Morning Brief, where she responded to questions surrounding the composition of the APC's campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Asekun-Shittu said the published list had not been cancelled or withdrawn, urging members of the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.

According to her, the campaign council remains focused on establishing an effective and credible structure capable of driving the party's campaign ahead of the next general elections.

She explained that while the existing structure remains in place, adjustments could still be made as the council completes the formation of its various subcommittees and finalises its campaign plans.

The spokesperson described such adjustments as part of the normal process of organising a large political campaign, stressing that any changes should not automatically be interpreted as a reversal of the earlier announcement.

“The structure remains valid and operational,” Asekun-Shittu said, while explaining that the campaign council was continuing with the organisational work required ahead of the 2027 elections.

Her comments come amid public debate over the composition of the APC presidential campaign council, particularly following questions surrounding the inclusion of some serving public officials.

The controversy has generated speculation over whether the party intends to review or withdraw the previously announced list.
However, Asekun-Shittu maintained that the council's work is continuing and that any official modification to its membership or structure would be communicated through the appropriate channels.

She said the public should rely on formal announcements from the party rather than reports based on speculation or unofficial information.

The development comes as political parties in Nigeria gradually intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections. The APC, which controls the Federal Government, is expected to strengthen its campaign machinery as it prepares to defend its position at the presidential and other levels.

The party's campaign organisation will be central to its efforts to coordinate mobilisation, communication, grassroots engagement and other activities ahead of the elections.

The clarification from the campaign council is therefore expected to ease uncertainty surrounding the status of the previously released list, although further adjustments may occur as the party completes its campaign planning.

Asekun-Shittu reiterated that any substantive changes to the council would be formally announced when necessary, indicating that the current structure should continue to be regarded as the operative framework for the APC's 2027 presidential campaign.

The APC is expected to continue its internal preparations in the coming months as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum across the country.
