Nigerian music superstar Davido has stirred fresh conversations on social media after posting what appeared to be the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, only hours after the governor mocked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for his well-known dancing style.

The post, shared on Davido's verified social media account, quickly went viral, with many Nigerians interpreting it as a direct response to Governor Okpebholo's remarks directed at Adeleke, who is Davido's uncle.

Earlier, Governor Okpebholo had taken a swipe at Governor Adeleke during a public event, suggesting that while some governors were known for dancing, others were focused on governance. The comment was widely viewed as a subtle jab at the Osun governor, whose energetic dance performances at public functions have earned him the nickname "The Dancing Governor."

Hours later, Davido shared an image purporting to be Governor Okpebholo's WAEC examination result without adding much commentary. The post immediately generated intense debate across social media platforms, with supporters and critics of both political figures weighing in on the development.

While some users described Davido's action as a humorous clapback in defence of his uncle, others argued that the singer should avoid being drawn into political exchanges.

Neither Governor Okpebholo nor the Edo State Government had officially responded to Davido's post as of the time of filing this report. Similarly, Governor Adeleke has not publicly reacted to either the governor's comments or Davido's social media response.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has built a public image around his lively personality and frequent dance displays, often sharing videos of himself dancing during official engagements and celebrations. His supporters argue that the dancing reflects his approachable leadership style and has never prevented him from carrying out his constitutional responsibilities. Critics, however, have occasionally questioned whether such public displays project the seriousness expected of a state governor.

The latest exchange has once again highlighted the growing intersection between entertainment and politics in Nigeria. Davido has consistently been vocal in support of his uncle's political career, campaigning for him during elections and defending him against criticism on several occasions.

The incident triggered mixed reactions online. Many supporters of Davido applauded the singer for standing up for his family, arguing that Governor Okpebholo should not have mocked a fellow governor over his personal style.

Others, however, criticised Davido for publishing an academic record, describing the move as unnecessary and capable of lowering the standard of political discourse.

Some social media users also urged both camps to focus on governance and national development instead of engaging in personal exchanges, noting that Nigerians expect elected leaders and influential public figures to promote issue-based conversations rather than personality clashes.

As the debate continues, the episode has become one of the most talked-about political and entertainment stories on Nigerian social media, drawing attention to how quickly political remarks can escalate into nationwide online conversations.
