Delta Suspends Works Commissioner Izeze Rume Yakubu Over Alleged Assault

The Delta State Government has indefinitely suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Hon. Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, with immediate effect.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu.
According to the statement, the decision was taken to allow security agencies to conduct an unbiased investigation into allegations linking the commissioner to the recent assault on the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Mr. Simon Mudi, popularly known as “Temple.”
The alleged incident reportedly occurred at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.
Dr. Emu said the suspension would enable the relevant security agencies to carry out their investigation without interference and establish the facts surrounding the incident.
He stated that the Delta State Government remains committed to protecting public safety, maintaining law and order, and upholding the sanctity of human lives under all circumstances.
The SSG stressed that the government’s commitment to these principles remains firm, including in situations involving officials and institutions of the state.
The commissioner’s suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in force indefinitely pending the outcome of the investigation.
