Dibiagwu’s ₦15 Million Donation to ACU: Investing in the Future of Agwa’s Children

There is no investment more enduring than an investment in education. Roads may deteriorate, buildings may age, and political administrations may change, but knowledge acquired by a child remains a lifelong asset. Education is therefore not merely a social service; it is a form of human security and the foundation upon which the future of a community is built.
It is against this background that Inside Agwa News considers it necessary to appreciate Hon. Engr. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, Member representing Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency, for his ₦15 million commitment to the Agwa Central Union (ACU) for the renovation of one classroom block at Agwa Secondary School.
On Sunday, August 8, 2026, Inside Agwa News published an education and investigative editorial, “A DAY IN A NIGHTMARE: A Visit to Agwa Secondary School Is a Sordid Indictment of Educational Neglect,” highlighting the deplorable infrastructure at the school and the urgent need for intervention.
Following engagement with ACU leadership, Hon. Dibiagwu responded positively to the situation. The President-General of ACU, Mr. Nduka Ozor, participated in the engagement and subsequently acknowledged and appreciated the donation on the ACU platform.
We believe acts of kindness deserve appreciation.
Booker T. Washington, the renowned educationist, observed that “Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.” Similarly, Helen Keller reminded humanity that “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” These principles are particularly relevant here: recognising a positive intervention does not diminish legitimate criticism; rather, it encourages a culture where responsible action is acknowledged and collective responsibility is strengthened.
The intervention will not solve every problem at Agwa Secondary School. But it will address one concrete and urgent need—the restoration of a classroom block and the creation of a safer, more conducive learning environment for students.
That matters.
For some time, political disagreements have shaped perceptions of the APC and its representatives in Agwa. However, fairness demands that every public action be assessed on its merit. Whatever political differences may exist, an intervention that directly benefits children deserves recognition.
The donation should therefore not be interpreted as the end of Agwa’s educational demands. It should be seen as a beginning.
In the spirit of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, whose famous plea was, “Please, sir, I want some more,” Agwa Secondary School is not asking Hon. Dibiagwu for more as a condition of appreciation. Rather, the school’s situation speaks to every responsible stakeholder: more classrooms, furniture, water, sanitation, electricity and comprehensive rehabilitation are still urgently needed.
We therefore call on government agencies, political representatives, philanthropists, corporate organisations and community leaders to emulate this intervention.
To Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, thank you for responding when the need was brought to your attention. To Mr. Nduka Ozor and the ACU executive, the responsibility now is to ensure transparency, proper execution and completion of the project.
The real test of this donation will not be the announcement, but the completed classroom occupied by Agwa children.
When a child learns in a better environment, a community becomes stronger. When education is secured, the future is secured.
