The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has described his re-election victory as a renewed call to greater service and responsibility to the people of the state.
Speaking with journalists shortly after being declared winner of Saturday's governorship election, Oyebanji expressed profound appreciation to Ekiti voters for reaffirming their confidence in his administration. He pledged to continue leading the state with humility, compassion, and a deep sense of accountability.
The governor noted that the overwhelming mandate given to him by the electorate comes with heightened expectations, which he said his administration is prepared to meet through dedicated service and people-oriented governance.
According to him, the outcome of the election is not merely a political victory but a responsibility to continue delivering policies and programmes that will positively impact the lives of residents across the state.
“I have a proper understanding of the responsibility that this victory has placed on my shoulders. It is a responsibility of service — service to the people of Ekiti State. I want to assure our people that we will continue to serve them with courage, compassion, humility and the fear of God,” Oyebanji stated.
He assured citizens that his administration would intensify efforts to improve governance and accelerate development across critical sectors, adding that the renewed mandate would motivate his government to work even harder in addressing the aspirations of the people.
Speaking on his second-term agenda, the governor said his administration would remain committed to the implementation of Ekiti State's long-term development blueprint while remaining flexible enough to accommodate emerging priorities and new opportunities for growth.
Oyebanji explained that the state already has a clearly defined roadmap for sustainable development, stressing that continuity in policy implementation remains essential to achieving the desired socio-economic transformation.
“We have a development guide, and we will continue to faithfully implement that plan. At the same time, if there are new issues or areas that require attention, we will review them and ensure they are accommodated. Our focus remains the comprehensive implementation of our development agenda for the benefit of all Ekiti people,” he added.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, sustainable development, and the welfare of all residents, promising that his administration would continue to prioritize policies that promote growth, prosperity, and social progress throughout the state.
