FG Approves N438bn for Major Road Projects, Trailer Park Concessions Nationwide

The Federal Government has approved about N438 billion for major road construction and rehabilitation projects across the country, alongside several trailer park concessions aimed at improving road infrastructure and easing the movement of goods and heavy-duty vehicles nationwide.
The approvals were made as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to rehabilitate critical transport corridors, improve connectivity and strengthen infrastructure supporting economic activities.
Among the projects approved is the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road in Ekiti State, at a contract sum of N159.83 billion.
The project has been awarded to CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Ltd. and is expected to improve transportation links between communities in Ekiti State and neighbouring areas.
The Federal Government also approved a N54.12 billion variation order for the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road in Ogun State.
The road is an important transportation route connecting communities and commercial centres within Ogun State and is expected to benefit commuters, businesses and freight operators when rehabilitation works are completed.
Another major approval covers the reconstruction of a 15-kilometre section of the East-West Road in Rivers State, stretching from Port Harcourt–Eleme Junction to Onne Port Junction.
The project, valued at N74.51 billion, has been awarded to RCC Nigeria Ltd., with a projected completion period of nine months.
The Port Harcourt–Eleme–Onne corridor is particularly significant because of its proximity to major industrial facilities, the Onne Port complex and other economic activities in the area. Rehabilitation of the route is expected to improve traffic flow and facilitate the movement of cargo and industrial goods.
The latest approvals form part of the Federal Government’s broader infrastructure programme aimed at addressing deteriorating road networks and improving transportation efficiency across the country.
The inclusion of trailer park concessions is also expected to provide designated facilities for articulated vehicles, potentially reducing indiscriminate parking by trailers along major highways and improving road safety.
The government has continued to emphasise the importance of modernising Nigeria’s road infrastructure as a means of supporting trade, reducing transportation costs and strengthening economic development.
The approved projects are expected to generate employment opportunities during construction while providing improved road connections for residents, businesses and other road users.
