Jowizaza’s Father Regains Freedom After Weeks in Kidnappers’ Captivity

EKWURUOBIA , ANAMBRA STATE — Businessman Mr. Adewale Jowizaza, father of popular entertainer Jowizaza, has regained his freedom after spending several weeks in the custody of suspected kidnappers, family sources confirmed late Thursday.
The 58-year-old businessman was reportedly abducted from his residence in Ekwuruobia LGA, Anambra State, in mid-July by armed men who allegedly stormed the area and took him away.
His release brings an end to weeks of uncertainty for the Jowizaza family, who had kept details of the incident largely private while efforts were made to secure his safe return.
According to family sources, security agencies commenced investigations shortly after the businessman was taken, while relatives and family representatives engaged in discreet efforts aimed at securing his release.
The circumstances surrounding his freedom, including whether any ransom was paid, have not been publicly disclosed. Officials have also declined to provide details of the negotiations, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation and security operations.
A family spokesperson confirmed that Jowizaza has been reunited with his loved ones and is currently in stable condition at an undisclosed location.
The spokesperson said the businessman is receiving attention from family members and is expected to undergo medical checks following his ordeal before settling into a period of rest and recovery.
The entertainer, Jowizaza, reportedly expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police, community leaders, friends, supporters and others who offered prayers, assistance and encouragement to the family throughout the difficult period.
He said the family’s immediate priority is the businessman’s recovery and wellbeing after the traumatic experience.
The abduction had reportedly generated concern among relatives, friends and associates, particularly as the family maintained a low profile while security agencies worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Kidnapping remains a major security challenge in parts of Nigeria, with criminal groups often targeting individuals perceived to have financial resources. In many cases, families of victims maintain confidentiality during negotiations with abductors and security agencies to avoid jeopardising efforts to secure the victim’s safe return.
In the case of Jowizaza’s father, authorities have yet to publicly identify the individuals responsible for the abduction or confirm whether any suspect has been arrested.
Security sources said surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts are continuing as investigators work to identify those involved in the operation.
The family has appealed for privacy as the businessman begins his recovery and undergoes necessary medical examinations.
Police authorities have also urged members of the public with credible information that could assist the investigation to provide such information to the appropriate security agencies.
For now, the family is said to be relieved by Jowizaza’s safe return after weeks of uncertainty, while investigators continue efforts to unravel the circumstances of the abduction and bring those responsible to justice.
