KRAKRAMA — The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Dr. Onengiyeofori George, DSSRS, has charged the newly elected executives of the Krakrama Youth Association to place service to the people above the pursuit of power and authority.

George gave the charge on Thursday while speaking at the 2026 delegate election of the association held at the Krakrama Civic Centre, where Mr. Frank Richard Pokiye emerged President.

The chairman congratulated the newly elected executives and commended the Electoral Committee for conducting what he described as a transparent and credible election.

He said the outcome of the exercise reflected his administration’s commitment to equity, fairness and due process, noting that the Electoral Committee was constituted by the community and that all aspirants were given equal opportunity to participate.

George urged the new executives to work together as a team and make the welfare and development of young people and the wider Krakrama community their priority.

He assured the association of the readiness of the Asari-Toru Local Government Council to collaborate with the new leadership in promoting good governance and youth development.

The chairman also directed the Council Secretary, Bro. Sele Francis, to formally communicate the outcome of the election to His Royal Majesty, the Chiefs-in-Council and members of the public on Monday.

Addressing concerns about the status of the association, George affirmed that the Krakrama Youth Association is duly registered and certified by the Rivers State Government.
He added that the screening of members was conducted with the involvement of relevant government security agencies, including the Department of State Services and the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

According to him, the process gives the election full government recognition and endorsement.

The chairman also commended the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comr. Isaiah Johnson Obiechere, for what he described as exemplary conduct during the electoral process.

In recognition of his role, George announced Obiechere’s immediate appointment as Special Assistant on Political Affairs.
The election produced Frank Richard Pokiye as President, Gospel Harry as Vice President and Otaji Bekinbo as Secretary.

The newly elected executives were subsequently sworn into office by the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Youth and Education, Hon. Somina Harry.

The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Mrs. Deborah Dandyson Bobmanuel; Chief of Staff, Hon. Mpaka Numbere; members of the council; traditional rulers; opinion leaders and other stakeholders.

The new leadership is expected to begin its tenure with a focus on youth mobilisation, community development and collaboration with relevant authorities to advance the interests of Krakrama.
