The Member representing Akulga Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. (Barr.) Lolo Isaiah Opuende, has distributed 10 cars and provided millions of naira in business and educational support to constituents across the nine wards that make up the constituency.

The empowerment exercise, which took place on Wednesday, is part of a broader intervention programme initiated by the lawmaker to support the economic wellbeing of his constituents and improve their capacity to engage in productive activities.

The 10 vehicles were presented to selected beneficiaries from across Akulga Constituency 2, with the initiative expected to enhance mobility and provide recipients with opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Opuende also announced financial interventions running into millions of naira for constituents engaged in small businesses and other economic activities.

The business support is targeted at helping beneficiaries strengthen existing enterprises, establish new ventures and improve their financial independence.

Educational assistance was also extended to constituents as part of the empowerment programme. The intervention is expected to support beneficiaries facing financial challenges associated with education and help them pursue their academic aspirations.

The lawmaker said the interventions were designed to cut across the nine wards of the constituency, reflecting what he described as an inclusive approach to constituency representation.

The distribution of the vehicles and other forms of assistance represents another phase of Opuende's constituency empowerment efforts, with the emphasis placed on providing practical support to individuals and families.

Akulga Constituency 2 is one of the constituencies represented in the Rivers State House of Assembly and covers communities within Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.

Constituency empowerment programmes are often used by lawmakers to complement government policies by providing direct assistance to residents through business grants, skills development, educational support and other interventions.

For beneficiaries of the latest programme, the provision of vehicles and financial assistance is expected to provide immediate relief while creating opportunities for improved economic participation.

The initiative also comes amid growing demands for elected representatives to complement legislative responsibilities with interventions that address the economic and social needs of constituents.

Opuende's latest intervention has therefore placed emphasis on transportation, entrepreneurship and education as areas requiring direct support.

The beneficiaries are expected to deploy the resources provided to improve their livelihoods and contribute to economic activities within their respective communities.

The lawmaker's office said the empowerment programme was conceived as part of his commitment to constituents across the nine wards and would continue to focus on initiatives capable of producing tangible benefits for residents.

The distribution has consequently drawn attention to the role of constituency-based interventions in supporting individuals and households at the grassroots, particularly in areas where access to capital and other opportunities remains limited.
