‎NWANGELE, IMO — The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Chief Cosmas Maduba, has received another expression of support from political leaders, traditional stakeholders and community members in Nwangele Local Government Area.

‎Maduba, popularly associated with the title “Odebube Isu,” received the support during a campaign outing at Dim Na Nume, Isu Eliligborogu, Nwangele LGA, where party supporters and community stakeholders gathered to receive his campaign team.

‎Reports on the 2026 APC primaries indicate that Maduba emerged as the party’s candidate for the federal constituency after defeating the incumbent representative, Harrison Anozie Nwadike.

‎The constituency comprises Isu, Njaba, Nkwerre and Nwangele Local Government Areas. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lists the area as the Isu/Njaba/Nkwerre/Nwangele Federal Constituency.

‎The Dim Na Nume campaign outing was hosted by Nze Don Njoku, Apara Igboland, Aririerimba and Paramount Leader of Ezi Offor Na Ogu Dynasty, while High Chief Maurice Onwukwe, Imeneme Nwangele, led the movement.

‎The event featured political leaders, traditional figures, community representatives and other stakeholders who expressed their views on the 2027 election and the importance of effective representation.

‎Following the traditional presentation of kola nuts, Chief Nze Tex Ukonu, Nwakaibeya of Isu, introduced guests at the gathering.

‎Among those present were the Executive Chairman of Nwangele Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Paul Duru; Hon. Aloysius Osuji, described by the organisers as the Lord Mayor of Isu Eliligborogu Clan and a former governorship candidate of the MAJA Party; Hon. Obinna Duruaku, BBC, Onwa Chineke; Hon. Mike Nnadozie, a former Governor of United Old Isu Progressives Union, Texas, United States; and Hon. Ezeala Akano.

‎In their separate remarks, speakers expressed support for Maduba and called for unity among stakeholders ahead of the 2027 election.

‎The Chief Guest at the event also prayed for victory for Maduba and other APC candidates in Nwangele Local Government Area.

‎Chief Lambert Orisakwe, Ph.D., Nze Ohuru, also appealed to residents of Nwangele to support Maduba, saying the candidate would require the backing of constituents to secure victory.

‎Responding to the reception, Maduba thanked the hosts, community leaders and residents of Dim Na Nume, Isu Eliligborogu and Nwangele for what he described as their warm welcome and encouragement.

‎He reiterated his promise to pursue people-oriented representation if elected to the House of Representatives, with emphasis on responsiveness to constituents and service to the communities within the federal constituency.

‎The campaign team included High Chief Maurice Onwukwe; Chief Felix Onuba, Hugo Boss, Odenigbo; Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Ekenasi; Chief Lambert Orisakwe; Chief Nze Tex Ukonu; Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Oguzie; Hon. Barr. Ikenna Emeh; Hon. Chief Okey Nwanyanwu, Akuruoulo of Umuaka; Chief Augustus Mbachi; Nze Damian Maduba; Hon. Protus Adikibe Duru; Hon. Ibe C. Achiever; Ijele Chimezie Odemenam, the Oracle of Njaba; Comrade Chigozie Izunwanne; Barr. Canice Maduba; Nnorom Obinna; Hon. IKB; Comrade Ben Onodor; and Comrade Nnorom Raphael, among others.

‎The development comes as political activities intensify across the four-LGA federal constituency ahead of the 2027 general election. The APC primary has already altered the race, with Maduba emerging as the party’s candidate after the incumbent lawmaker lost his return bid.

‎News Background: The Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba Federal Constituency is one of the federal constituencies in Imo State’s Orlu Senatorial District. The seat is currently represented in the 10th National Assembly by Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo of the APC, according to the National Assembly’s official profile.  The 2027 contest is expected to attract considerable political interest as parties and candidates mobilise across the four constituent local government areas.
