Vipers Sign Nigerian Defender Tarabina Biweribo on Two-Year Deal

Ugandan Premier League champions Vipers SC have completed the signing of Nigerian defender Tarabina Biweribo from Kano Pillars on a two-year contract.
The Ugandan club announced the acquisition on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, confirming the arrival of the left-footed defender as part of its preparations for the new season. Vipers described the move as an effort to strengthen its central defence.
Biweribo, whose full name is Princewill Biweribo Tarabina, is primarily a centre-back but is also capable of playing at left-back. His versatility and experience in Nigeria's top flight were key factors behind Vipers' decision to bring him to Uganda.
The 23-year-old defender was born on March 11, 2003, and developed his professional career in Nigeria. He spent several seasons with Bayelsa United before moving to Plateau United ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign.
At Bayelsa United, Biweribo was part of the squad that won the 2021 Nigeria Federation Cup. He subsequently moved to Plateau United in August 2025, where he continued to feature in the NPFL. Available player records indicate that he made 16 league appearances for Plateau United during the 2025/26 season.
His performances earned him another move within the NPFL when Kano Pillars signed him from Plateau United on July 24, 2026. Reports at the time said the defender had agreed to join the Kano-based club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, his stay at Kano Pillars lasted only a few weeks before he secured the move to Uganda.
The transfer now represents Biweribo's first recorded move outside Nigeria and gives him an opportunity to compete in the Ugandan top flight with one of the country's leading clubs.
Vipers SC are the defending Uganda Premier League champions and have been active in the transfer market as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. Biweribo is reportedly the club's seventh signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of players including Farouk Miya, Loyce Mbaba, Nicholas Mwere, Joel Sserunjogi, Jacques Mangoba and Cesar Manzoki.
The Nigerian defender has reportedly been brought in as a replacement for Rogers Torach, who recently left Vipers. His ability to operate centrally while also covering the left side of defence gives the champions additional options at the back.
Biweribo's move also continues a growing trend of Nigerian players seeking opportunities in other African leagues. His experience in the NPFL, combined with his versatility and previous success in domestic competition, will be expected to help Vipers maintain their competitive edge both domestically and on the continental stage.
For Biweribo, the transfer marks a fresh chapter after successive moves from Bayelsa United to Plateau United, then Kano Pillars, and now Vipers SC.
The defender will now turn his attention to settling into his new surroundings in Uganda and competing for a regular place in the Vipers back line as the club begins its title defence.
Vipers officially welcomed him to the club with the message: “Bolstering the Central Defence,” signalling the role the Nigerian has been recruited to perform.
