Atiku Abubakar’s Media Adviser and spokesperson, Paul Ibe, has renewed calls for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, accusing the administration of failing in its fundamental responsibility to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians.
Speaking during a recent interview, Ibe described the current security situation in the country as evidence of what he termed a failure of leadership, insisting that the government has not delivered on its constitutional mandate.
According to him, the primary duty of any government is to guarantee the safety and well-being of its citizens, a responsibility he claimed has been neglected under the present administration.
Ibe questioned claims that security has improved since President Tinubu assumed office in 2023, arguing that the realities on the ground suggest otherwise.
Citing figures he described as alarming, the Atiku aide said that no fewer than 879 people have lost their lives to various forms of violence, while nearly 300 others remain in captivity across the country.
He maintained that the administration appears overwhelmed by the nation's security challenges and urged the President to either focus fully on addressing the crisis or consider stepping aside.
The remarks add to the growing political debate over the federal government's handling of insecurity and other national challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
