Mutfwang Visits Bokkos Attack Community, Orders Arrest of Killers, Reaffirms Commitment to Security

PLATEAU, NIGERIA — Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has visited Kawel Community in Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area, following a deadly attack that claimed the lives of 23 residents and left one person injured.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy during the visit on Wednesday, expressed deep sorrow over the June 21 attack and conveyed the condolences of the Plateau State Government and its people to the bereaved families and the entire Mushere community.
Describing the incident as barbaric and senseless, Governor Mutfwang said the attack was a direct assault on the sanctity of human life and the peaceful values for which Plateau State is known.
Addressing grieving residents gathered in the community, the governor called on security agencies to intensify efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the killings.
He stressed that the perpetrators must be brought to justice, assuring residents that his administration would not relent in its efforts to secure communities across the state and protect citizens from further violence.
According to him, the government remains committed to ensuring that Plateau residents live without fear and are able to pursue their legitimate economic activities in a peaceful environment.
Governor Mutfwang also encouraged farmers to continue their agricultural activities while remaining vigilant. He urged residents to maintain close communication with security agencies and community leaders and promptly report suspicious movements or activities.
Earlier, Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, described the devastating impact of the attack, revealing that the victims included farmers, two pregnant women, and healthcare workers attached to a Primary Healthcare Centre in the area.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Mushere Community Development Association (MCDA), Ambassador Duwam Bosco, called for a review of existing security arrangements to prevent further attacks and safeguard lives and property.
Representing the women of Mushere, Mrs. Charity Ayuba appealed for unity among residents and urged the community to remain steadfast in preserving peace and confronting threats to their safety.
On behalf of affected families, Mr. Jethro Dukut called for a thorough investigation into circumstances surrounding the attack, expressing concern over developments that reportedly preceded the incident and seeking measures to prevent a recurrence.
The visit formed part of the state government's ongoing response to the tragedy and its efforts to reassure residents of its commitment to justice, security, and lasting peace in Plateau State.
